In a previous article we already told you what freeze dried fruit(powder) is and how the unique process of freeze drying works. Now it's time to share another delicious recipe with you, namely a recipe for bananabread baked oats! Of course you can use our freeze-dried products in it again. Bananabread baked oats
Havermout is ontzettend veelzijdig maar heeft van zichzelf weinig smaak, het heeft alleen een bepaalde textuur. Dit maakt havermout een goed basisproduct om lekkere dingen mee te maken. Eerder deelde we al een recept voor zelfgemaakte granola met je die je gemakkelijk maakt met havermout maar nu delen we graag een baked oats recept met je. Voordat we dat doen, leggen we je natuurlijk ook nog even uit wat baked oats zijn.
Baked oats?
Baked oats is de Engelse benaming voor gebakken havermout. Toch wordt in de meeste gevallen alleen de Engelse term gebruikt, waarom? Bij warme havermout denken de meeste Nederlanders helaas nog aan de lauwe havermoutpap van vroeger. Geloof me, baked oats lijkt verre van op de pap van vroeger. Wat maakte de baked oats van dit recept zo lekker? Uiteraard ons gevriesdroogde fruit(poeder) maar ook de structuur van de baked oats is uniek. Deze heeft namelijk de structuur van een cake, maar dan zonder de hoeveelheid boter en vele suikers.

You will need this
- 40 grams of oatmeal flakes or oatmeal flour
- ½ banana
- 10 grams of protein powder
- 10 grams of potent freeze-dried banana powder
- 60 milliliters of milk
- teaspoon of cinnamon (or two)
- ½ tablespoon baking powder
- 5 slices of freeze-dried banana
- 5 grams of dark chocolate
If you do not have protein powder you can also omit it, add 10 grams of extra oatmeal (flour). If desired, you can also add a little honey for flavor but it is not necessary.
Do you use oatmeal flakes? Then the texture will be a bit coarser. When using oatmeal flour, you get even more the texture of cake. No flour at home? Then put the oatmeal flakes in the food processor for a while.
This recipe makes one serving of bananabread baked oats. Want to make multiple servings? Then double the amount of the above ingredients by the number of servings you want to make.
Here's how to make our banana bread baked oats
Trust us, the oven does most of the work when you go to make these baked oats. Follow the steps below and you can be enjoying these delicious banana bread baked oats within 30 minutes.
- preheat your oven to 200°C
- weigh all ingredients carefully
- mash half the banana and add the remaining ingredients (except the chocolate and freeze-dried banana slices)
- mix all ingredients in a bowl
- put the mix in an ovenproof dish
- chop the chocolate into smaller pieces
- decorate the mixture with the slices of freeze-dried banana and the chocolate
- Put the dish in the oven and bake for 20 minutes in the oven
- If necessary, you can sprinkle some extra cinnamon over the baked oats.
The freeze-dried banana powder and cinnamon give this baked oats its unique bananabread flavor. Of course, you can always vary with other fruit powders as well.
Does this banana bread baked oats fit into a balanced diet?
Banana bread baked oats are packed with macronutrients that you need on a daily basis to provide energy. Fats, proteins and carbohydrates are all needed in your diet. Of course, because of the honey, (freeze-dried) banana and fruit powder, you do add natural sugars to your meal: however, we just need these sugars too, just in moderation.
Eat the bananabread baked oats during your breakfast or lunch and serve with a big scoop of high-protein cottage cheese if desired. That way you add even more protein to your balanced meal.
Can you store banana bread baked oats?
You intentionally make only one serving with this recipe, so we recommend that you eat this product immediately and not store it. It may be possible, but unfortunately the taste of the product will not improve. Just enjoy it immediately!
